There are few places in the world where you can experience a whole multitude of life in such close proximity to each other. School trips to Morocco are perfect for learning and observing the varied terrains and Rocky Mountains, gorges, valleys, vast Sahara and local interactions with both Berbers, the indigenous habitants, and Arabs to complement classroom learning.

Our Moroccan itineraries include natural wonders of gorges, valleys, examining the snowy peaks of the Atlas Mountains, the magnificent UNESCO World Heritage city of Ait Ben Haddou, trekking in the Sahara Desert with the opportunity of two nights of camping out under the stars in a traditional Bedouin bivouac, a visit to a Berber community. Marrakech is an opportunity to experience sustainability and tourism whilst exploring the ancient medina, souks, and the abundance of well-preserved UNESCO heritage sites, magnificent Mosques and beautiful Royal Palaces hidden within a labyrinth of ancient alleys. What are we doing?

Atlas Odyssey Travel develops and organizes international service-learning and community engagement programs for university students, high school students, community volunteers, and independent travelers in the remote Central High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. AOT Founders have more than ten years of experience traveling and leading groups in Morocco and work with professional Moroccan guides, legal transport companies, and good location hotels and guesthouses. All service and community engagement work is in partnership with locals.

Ouzoud Waterfalls Day Trip

Marrakech to Ouzoud waterfalls day trip is a refreshing change from the vibrant and busy red city. It is a great opportunity to see some of the lovely Moroccan countryside. And in summer it is cooler and fresh to escape the Marrakech day time heat. The waterfalls are one of several fascinating waterfalls in north Africa. Along this trip we will take you to the edge of middle Atlas Mountains to the highest falls in the country 110 meters. It is also known for the monkeys and birds roaming the trees around the falls.

Toubkal Odyssey

Mt Toubkal, also known as Jebel Toubkal locally, rises 4167m above sea level and offers stunning panoramic views of the High Atlas Mountains. This trek spans three days, allowing you to ascend and descend North Africa’s highest peak, with a glimpse into the life of Berber villagers along the way. Afterward, you can explore Marrakech, a vibrant city. In winter, the area transforms into a walker’s paradise, with uncrowded trails and breathtaking views of the Toubkal Massif.

Crampons and Ice axes

Crampons and ice axes are provided locally (Camp Magix 10 crampons and Camp Neve axes) These will normally be issued in (or before) Aroumnd.

3 – 4 season walking boots

All crampons must be fitted to an appropriate boot. Fitting a pair of crampons to an insufficiently sturdy or rigid boot can lead to crampons coming loose, and accidents. The crampons required for this trip are C1 crampons (entry-level mountain crampons). A C1 crampon should be fitted to a B1 boot. A B1 boot is a 3 to 4-season walking boot with a rigid or semi-rigid sole, and good (high and stiff) ankle support. The guides will check all participant’s boots before the trek to confirm they are compatible with the crampons to be used.

Desert Agafay Day trip

You have limited time in Marrakech and cannot make it to the Sahara dunes in southern Morocco. But you can still take a short, alternative trip to the “Marrakech Desert”, Agafay, for an impression of the emptiness and silence of the desert.

Essaouira day trip

Essaouira day trip from Marrakech offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the pleasant weather, and discover, the famous seaport, and the medieval rampart. The narrow streets and colorful medina of this charming little town are unique in atmosphere, yet still very Moroccan. Local fish market lunch worth a try. Essaouira is many tourists’ darling! Previously known as Mogador to the Portuguese inhabitants, it is a charming coast well-known for local handicrafts, especially thuja wood furniture, silver, and small artifacts, sold in innumerable shops along the windy streets.
